The town itself has grown fast and is busy. Three to four hours, mostly downhill.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stay in a village<\/strong> Sleeping in Ta Van or Lao Chai is much quieter than the town.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Go up Fansipan<\/strong> The highest mountain in Vietnam. Cable car to the top, or two days walking.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Visit a market<\/strong> Bac Ha market on Sunday is the biggest one in the area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Gut zu wissen<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Skip the town centre if you can. Stay in a village instead.<\/li>\n<li>Green terraces are June to August. Golden rice is September.<\/li>\n<li>Winter is cold and wet, and it sometimes snows.<\/li>\n<li>Guides from the villages know the paths and the families.
